THE SOUND OF COS

This short by Dutch artists Lernert & Sander really got me thinking about the very act of wearing clothes in detail. The more tactile my clothes are the more affection I have for them, a snuggly cashmere jumper and textured wool coat are what dreams are made of.

ARE JEE BEE? - HAROON MIRZA - IMMA

On first inspection Haroon Mirza’s exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art could be confused with the set of a sci-fi film with light and sound colliding as you enter the gallery space. Are Jee Bee? is in fact a site specific work in response to the architecture and environment of the IMMA. Utilising objects from the preceding Eileen Gray exhibition, Mirza has layered and manipulated sound, light and video to create an installation that plays to the spectators sensibility.

The title of the exhibition Are Jee Bee? is a nod to the colours red, green and blue, used in the RGB model to display images in electronic systems. There is a feeling of contrast present in both Mirza’s work and the gallery space; while IMMA’s white cube interior contrasts with it’s own 17th century exterior, Mirza has echoed these contrasts in his work, System, which interrupts the former Eileen Gray exhibition with pulses of LED light and sound. System is a reference to the Dublin nightclub of the same name which was at the forefront of the 90s music scene in the city. Mirza’s work is heavily influenced by house music. System also features a re-imagining of Björk’s famed YouTube video, during which she describes how she thinks a television works.

Are Jee Bee? is an all encompassing sensory experience, the work takes the viewer on a rhythmic reverie that far outlives the walls of the IMMA.

BETTY MAGAZINE IN CONVERSATION

Some photographs from Betty Magazine's  Summer launch + conversation held in my favourite journal shop, Colours May Vary. SPACES

La Garçonne's first physical store has opened it's doors at 464 Greenwich Street in TriBeca, New York City. Hosting emerging and established designers as well as Le Garçonne's eponymous label the minimal interior compliments the simplicity and muted pallet of the collection. A white space filled with wooden and industrial fixtures, wire baskets and glass display cases makes for a pleasing shopping environment.

WISH LIST

With today's glimpse of summer comes thoughts of dreamy outfit ensembles. The silk Margaret Howell pyjama's would be perfect holiday-daytime-attire, I imagine them worn with the Salt Water sandals - I've been thinking about them for a while now, I just need to bite the bullet and buy a pair. The COS leather clutch is just the thing I need for stuffing all my receipts and paperwork into and throwing in a tote bag.  I'm relatively new to the Korean brand Bread and butter - they have a good, neutral collection and some real inspirational styling.
